Home Economics...at Home
Two of my kids are completing a Home Economics course this term while homeschooling. They take notes, read about different terms, concepts, and skills, then apply the skills in their "labs" (cooking). We are using the free course at "Plain and Not so Plain" as our foundation for the course.
So far the kids have worked through four units, including kitchen safety, blender skills, using the food processor, and breakfast foods. Each of them has made (successfully!) multiple dishes in each unit including milkshakes, bean dips, homemade salsa, waffles, oven pancakes, and now in the baking unit (which will take longer) cookies have started.
Here's my son today making snickerdoodles, one of his cookie choices.
